Hello,
I am Alik, A Design researcher and strategist
Constantly pursuing my curiosity in understanding and uncovering the infinite ways in which we experience the world, from the very mundane to the complex social constructs that govern us.
I work collaboratively to design thoughtful interventions using a combination of design-led research, system thinking, three dimensional and visual design, and most importantly a genuine intention for deeper understanding.
My design practice is built upon:
Understanding through
Listening:
When entering a new space and starting a collaboration it is essential to listen, appreciate and acknowledge what is already there.
As a designer I am working to be mindful of my position and impact by incorporating check-ins and reflexive tools within the design process.
Understanding through
experimenting:
My drive and eagerness to learn, allow me to work through the uncertainty projects usually tend to face. By making space for experimentation, and using a blend of probes, prototypes, and mapping techniques I guide the emergence of important insights.
Understanding through
Participation:
I strongly believe that design plays an important role in uncovering people’s potential in being active players and advocates for the development of more equitable systems. Through my work I have experienced first hand not only the value of design-led research and multi-stakeholder workshops but also designing the process of co-creating the tools and handing them over.
I am eager to continue working on projects that would foster and activate the potential by designing more participatory processes and interventions.
Understanding through
Narratives:
Uncovering new narratives and constructing situations in everyday experiences that create space for inquiry and new perspective.
The combination of my past experiences reinforced my skills to communicate and visualize complex concepts. I am comfortable to shift through scales as well as format (2D, 3D, service, etc), to create narratives that inspire and allow space for feedback and improvement.
